On August 15, during the 16th Xinjiang Kashgar Central and South Asia Commodity Fair, the "Sichuan–Xinjiang: Crossing Mountains and Seas, Linking a New Silk Road" supply-demand matchmaking event was held in Kashgar. At the event, the digital going-global platform — the "Crossing Mountains and Seas" independent site (https://scselects.com/) — officially began trial operation. It is Sichuan's first independent site dedicated to manufactured products, building an online showcase and matchmaking platform for "Made in Sichuan" goods and moving beyond the single-function model of traditional display platforms to create a digital, intelligent, and ecological full-scope going-global service system.
An "independent site" — common in cross-border e-commerce — is a self-built website with its own domain for conducting e-commerce business. Compared with third-party marketplaces such as Amazon, an independent site gives sellers greater independence and voice, lowers operating costs, enables precision marketing, and builds brand value.
Sichuan has deep industrial foundations, with strong clusters in electronic information, equipment manufacturing, food and light textiles, and more; many quality "Made in Sichuan" products are highly competitive internationally. Yet for a long time, Sichuan companies going global have faced high promotion costs, fragmented overseas channels, weak brand presence, low order conversion, and a shortage of professional talent — making it hard to connect efficiently with global markets.
The "Crossing Mountains and Seas" independent site was created to build a permanent online showcase, enabling Sichuan products to be displayed to global buyers around the clock without interruption. It also shapes a provincial-level regional public brand — a unified name card for the outside world — lowering SMEs' overall costs of building sites, promotion, and customer acquisition, and helping them continuously expand into westward-opening international markets.
"The platform offers free onboarding for Sichuan companies, cutting their overseas promotion costs by up to 60% or more, with a professional operations team providing end-to-end support — content production, global investment promotion, cross-border livestreaming, and other one-stop going-global services," said an official with the Sichuan Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology. Work is ongoing to expand company and product resources, iterate digital operations capabilities, and improve the global service layout.
To date, the site has aggregated information on more than 3,000 Sichuan companies; over 900 have signed up, and more than 4,700 quality Sichuan products are listed — forming a large-scale, diversified matrix of Sichuan products going global.
On the site, pages focus on Sichuan's key industrial belts such as advanced materials and food & beverages, with standardized categorization of companies and products. Clicking into the "Food & Light Textiles" industry page, for example, reveals more than ten pages of Sichuan companies; each company profile page details its background, featured products, and contact information.
For promotion and traffic, the site has built an operating system in which the main platform, industrial belts, and company sub-sites feed traffic to one another. It works deeply with international social-media and e-commerce platforms — TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Amazon — and an influencer collaboration matrix for precise traffic acquisition. Its "online promotion + offline matchmaking" model, backed by 33 overseas service centers worldwide, closes the loop between domestic and overseas operations, traffic and orders.
At the matchmaking event, Sichuan also released the Sichuan Competitive Industry Supply List, gathering 89 Sichuan companies across ten key fields including equipment manufacturing and energy & power. The event was the first cross-regional stop of the "Sichuan Manufacturing · Crossing Mountains and Seas" market-expansion series — and Sichuan's first large-scale organization of enterprises into Xinjiang to reach Central Asian markets.
