Sichuan enterprise updates, opening global markets together

Sichuan Manufacturing Heads West: Expanding into Central Asia with a "Circle-and-Chain" Mindset

2026-08-15 09:00

At the 16th Kashgar Central and South Asia Commodity Fair, which opened on August 14, the "Sichuan Manufacturing · Crossing Mountains and Seas" market-expansion campaign officially launched. Seventy-eight enterprises from 12 cities and prefectures across Sichuan presented 663 products.

In the first half of this year, Sichuan's industrial added value above designated size grew 6.4%, and revenue of its 17 key industrial chains rose about 7%. Yet for Central and South Asian markets, Sichuan manufacturing faces a clear contradiction: strong capacity, weak channels. Between supply and demand, a bridge across provincial borders is needed.

"This event is a vivid implementation of the provincial Party committee and government's 'build circles, strengthen chains' strategy, and an innovative exploration of industry departments running market events," said Xie Yachuan, Deputy Division Chief of the Foreign Economic Cooperation Division at the Sichuan Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology. "Market development is itself a vital part of chain-building. This time we drew the circle to Xinjiang, to Central and South Asia, to the vast emerging markets. We came to build this bridge — to precisely match Sichuan's industrial supply with Central and South Asia's market demand."

The Sichuan pavilion is organized around four industrial belts: electronic information, biomedicine, advanced materials, and clean energy. Take tires: last year, seven Central Asian countries imported nearly RMB 6.8 billion of rubber tires from China, while Sichuan accounted for only 1.3% — the gap is the opportunity. The on-site matchmaking event drew over 200 participants and saw the release of a Central & South Asia procurement demand list and the Sichuan Quality Products Supply List.

"We provide comprehensive foreign-trade services, with annual trade volume exceeding RMB 10 billion, and have helped more than 140 companies go global from Sichuan," said Gong Yi, Chairman of Luhai Yungang Yunxin International Supply Chain. "Coming to Kashgar this time is about getting more Sichuan companies onto our convenient logistics corridors, cutting their logistics costs and improving delivery times."

"Their water supply, drainage, and gas pipeline networks are being upgraded — and our technology happens to fill that gap," said Wu Chunling, Deputy General Manager of Sichuan Longlike Stainless Steel Pipe. "The government brought the buyers to us this time; we hope to truly connect this line."

The campaign also marked the first release of the "Crossing Mountains and Seas" independent site for manufactured products, already home to 392 companies. By partnering with international e-commerce and social media platforms and a matrix of influencers, the site drives precise traffic and promotion — turning every follow into a conversion.

"We are exploring a shift from 'one-off deals at single exhibitions' to a 'full-cycle industrial coordination mechanism,'" Xie Yachuan added. "We collect pain points from overseas markets and feed them back to strengthen weak links and supporting capacity in Sichuan's industrial chains — forming a closed loop of market feedback, industrial upgrading, and expanded exports."
