KASHGAR, August 15 — During the 16th Xinjiang Kashgar Central and South Asia Commodity Fair (the "Kashgar Fair"), the "Sichuan–Xinjiang: Crossing Mountains and Seas, Linking a New Silk Road" supply-demand matchmaking event was held in Kashgar, Xinjiang. It marked the first large-scale delegation under the "Sichuan Manufacturing · Crossing Mountains and Seas" series to enter Xinjiang and engage buyers from Central and South Asia. Twenty-four companies signed deals on site, totaling RMB 800 million.
Officials attending and addressing the event included Luo Wenquan, Deputy Director of the Sichuan Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology; Song Jiabin, Deputy Director of the Industry and Information Technology Bureau of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps; Wang Qing, Second-level Inspector of the Xinjiang Department of Industry and Information Technology; and Liu Jiafeng, Deputy Governor of Kizilsu Kirghiz Autonomous Prefecture.
At the event, Rustambek Baratov, representative of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, presented the local market and investment environment, interpreted relevant policies, and released a list of project demands. The Kashgar Investment Promotion Bureau introduced local industries and released a demand list for industrial-transfer projects around the Tarim economic belt, covering agricultural processing, chemicals, equipment manufacturing, and green mining. Sichuan's Department of Economy and Information Technology presented the province's competitive industries and officially released the Sichuan Competitive Industry Supply List, compiling supply and demand information from 89 Sichuan enterprises.
The same day, the digital going-global platform "Sichuan Manufacturing · Crossing Mountains and Seas" — an independent cross-border site — began trial operation. Jointly built by Sichuan's Department of Economy and Information Technology and Department of Commerce, it is Sichuan's first independent site dedicated to manufactured products, designed to give "Made in Sichuan" a permanent online showcase and matchmaking window for Central Asia, South Asia, and global markets. Companies and products are standardized and categorized around Sichuan's key industrial belts, with free onboarding and multi-language display.
An independent site — a self-built e-commerce website with its own domain — offers sellers greater independence and a stronger voice than third-party marketplaces such as Amazon, while lowering operating costs, enabling precision marketing, and building brand value: publish once, reach buyers for the long term.
According to the Department of Economy and Information Technology, the core goal of the independent site is to bring operating costs down and keep the initiative in Sichuan's own hands. The platform offers free onboarding for Sichuan companies, with a professional operations team providing end-to-end support including content production, global investment promotion, and cross-border livestreaming. Its "online promotion + offline matchmaking" model is backed by 33 overseas service centers worldwide, forming a closed loop of international marketing services. To date, 983 companies have joined the site and 4,797 Sichuan products are listed — the first time Sichuan manufacturing has systematically explored a digital path for proprietary brands going global under a provincial public brand.
The official added that the matchmaking event is a concrete step in the opening year of the 15th Five-Year Plan to extend Sichuan's manufacturing westward with a "circle-and-chain" mindset, as the province pushes its "15+N" priority industries to build stronger chains and accelerate trillion-yuan industrial clusters and national advanced manufacturing clusters.
Xinjiang — Kashgar in particular — enjoys a unique location where "five ports connect eight countries, and one road links Europe and Asia," with an efficient port system and cross-border corridors. Central and South Asian markets face a shortage of manufacturing supply and strong demand for agricultural machinery, electronics and home appliances, and new building materials. Sichuan, with its complete industrial system covering all 41 industrial and 31 manufacturing categories, can match that supply to demand — the essence of "Sichuan–Xinjiang: Crossing Mountains and Seas."
During the event, participating companies also held B2B matchmaking sessions by country and sub-industry, laying the groundwork for deeper cooperation. At this year's Kashgar Fair, Sichuan also opened a dedicated pavilion where 78 enterprises from 12 cities and prefectures presented 663 products.
