Tianma (Chengdu) Railway Bearing Co., Ltd. was founded in January 2002 at No. 201 Tongxin Avenue, Qingbaijiang District, Chengdu, with registered capital of RMB 380 million and a site area of about 134,000 m2 (245 mu). A core subsidiary of Zhejiang Tianma Bearing Group, it was formed by the group's reorganisation of the former state-owned Chengdu Bearing Group and inherits over fifty years of bearing R&D and manufacturing experience.
The company's main products are double-row tapered roller bearings for rail transit, supplied to China Railway, CRRC and Taiwan Railway. Freight car bearings hold the largest market share in China, with capacity for 400,000 new and 150,000 reconditioned sets a year. Metro axlebox bearings have been developed in-house since 2011: about 23,300 self-developed sets in 523 trainsets run on 29 lines in 14 cities including Beijing and Shenzhen, and some 30,000 sets have been reconditioned for 11 cities including Shanghai, Hangzhou, Hefei and Chengdu. R&D on high-speed trainset bearings has reached a stage of progress.
Production and testing equipment across a complete chain of forging, heat treatment, grinding, assembly and testing runs under CNC and automated control; the technology centre is a Sichuan provincial enterprise technology centre and the CNAS-accredited testing centre, winner of a Proficiency Testing Quality Award, covers material, metallographic, accuracy, vibration, sealing and life testing.
With Wuhan University of Technology and Southwest Jiaotong University the company carries out industry-academia-research cooperation on bearing design, manufacturing and testing, advancing key technologies to break foreign technical blockade. It has taken part in drafting national and industry standards, holds 37 patents (4 invention patents and 33 utility models) and has won a second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.
The company is certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, and has been named an Outstanding Private Enterprise of Sichuan, a Top 100 Private Enterprise of Chengdu, a Top 50 enterprise of the Sichuan machinery industry, a Top 100 Private Enterprise of Sichuan and a Top 100 Manufacturing Enterprise of Chengdu. Sales revenue reached RMB 660 million in 2024.
