Sichuan Daoquan Old-jar Pickle Co., Ltd. is located in Guanghua Village, Majing Town, Shifang City, Deyang, Sichuan Province. Established on 23 July 2015 with a registered capital of RMB 50 million, the company covers a plant area of 157 mu and processes more than 80,000 tonnes of vegetables a year. It is a national key leading enterprise in agricultural industrialisation, dedicated to vegetable planting and to the research, production and sales of traditional Sichuan old-jar pickled vegetables.
The company traces its origins to a pickle workshop founded in 1989 with an investment of RMB 130,000. In 1992 the Shifang Pickle Factory was established and the "Majing" brand created. After several rounds of technical upgrading over more than three decades, the company invested RMB 148 million from 2015 onwards in a new plant and brand-new equipment, achieving mechanical automation with an annual vegetable purchase of over 70,000 tonnes and gradually building a modern agricultural complex for sustainable development.
The company hosts a Sichuan Provincial Enterprise Technology Centre and a Deyang Municipal Engineering Technology Research Centre, and cooperates with Sichuan University, Xihua University and Sichuan Technology and Business College on industry-academia-research programmes. It is one of the drafting units of the old-jar pickled cabbage standard and a supporting supplier of old-jar pickled cabbage and other products to the Uni-President Group. The company has built its own Old-Jar Pickle Museum and keeps its plant fully open to consumers, student study tours and the media. Its products cover table pickles, pickled greens, small-leaf mustard specialities and 25 kg catering packs.
Majing lies on the alluvial belt at the core of the Sanxingdui site, where excavated pottery jars are regarded as the prototype of the modern Sichuan pickle jar, and the local folk rhyme about pickling with Majing river water refers to this very place. Drawing on the region's fine jar-making craft, extensive salt brine deposits and high-quality water from the fluvio-glacial deposits, the company insists on constant-temperature natural fermentation in earthen jars to restore the original taste of Sichuan pickles.
The company has been awarded the titles of Sichuan Provincial Key Leading Enterprise in Agricultural Industrialisation, Sichuan Provincial Contract-honouring and Credit-worthy Enterprise, Sichuan Provincial Key Leading Enterprise in Poverty Alleviation and Sichuan Provincial Star Leading Enterprise in Agricultural Industrialisation for Poverty Alleviation. It was designated a National Poverty Alleviation Employment Base by the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and a National Food Science Popularisation and Education Base by the Chinese Institute of Food Science and Technology. Its products hold quality management system and food safety management system certification, Halal certification, pollution-free agricultural product certification and origin certification, while the Majing brand has been recognised as a Famous Trademark of Sichuan Province and a Sichuan Famous Brand.
