A rutile titanium dioxide pigment produced by the chloride process and surface-treated with zirconium, aluminium and organic agents; the zirconia addition markedly improves the weathering resistance and gloss retention of the film, making it a general-purpose grade for coatings. It offers high whiteness, strong tinting strength and good dispersion, wetting out readily in both solvent-borne and water-borne systems; milled pastes stay at fineness without regrinding and the film dries to even, full colour. Widely used in industrial paints, furniture coatings, architectural paints, powder coatings and printing inks, for interior and exterior walls, anti-corrosion metal and wood finishing. Typical values: TiO2 ≥93%, whiteness ≥97, oil absorption ≤20 g/100 g, volatiles at 105 °C ≤0.5%, pH of aqueous suspension 7.0–9.5, to GB/T 1706-2006. Packed 25 kg in paper-plastic bags with PE liner, or 500 kg and 1000 kg bulk bags and one-tonne pallets.
