Its function is to convert the mechanical energy from a power source (such as an electric motor or internal combustion engine) into the pressure energy of a fluid. It features energy and cost savings, a simplified control system, low power consumption, and high efficiency, and can effectively reduce energy consumption. The figure illustrates the operating principle of a single-plunger pump. The cam is driven by an electric motor. When the cam pushes the plunger upward, the sealed volume formed by the plunger and the cylinder body decreases, forcing the oil out of the sealed volume. The oil is then discharged through a check valve to the desired location. When the cam rotates to the downward portion of its curve, a spring forces the plunger downward, creating a certain degree of vacuum. Under atmospheric pressure, fluid from the reservoir enters the sealed volume. As the cam causes the plunger to move up and down continuously, the sealed volume periodically decreases and increases, allowing the pump to continuously draw in and discharge fluid.
