Sichuan Meidakang Huakang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. traces its origin to 1971 as the state-owned Sichuan Mianzhu Pharmaceutical Factory. After state-owned enterprise restructuring, reorganisation and shareholding reform, it was formally established on 27 February 2001 and was formerly known as Deyang Huakang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. With registered capital of RMB 160 million, the company is located at No. 1 Zhenjiang Road, Jiangsu Industrial Park, Mianzhu Economic Development Zone, Sichuan Province. Jointly invested in by Sichuan Meidakang Pharmaceutical Group, Beijing Furui Kangzheng Pharmaceutical Technology Research Institute and Sichuan Jiannanchun (Group) Co., Ltd., it is a national high-tech enterprise integrating the production, R&D and sales of chemical pharmaceuticals.
The company offers a complete range of dosage forms, covering freeze-dried powder for injection, sterile powder for injection, large-volume injections, small-volume injections, eye drops, solutions (including nebuliser inhalation), tablets, capsules, external liniments, chemical APIs and pharmaceutical excipients. It currently holds more than 130 drug approval numbers, including over 50 national essential drug varieties, mainly in therapeutic categories such as antibacterials (against bacteria, fungi and anaerobes), antivirals, vitamins and antipyretic-analgesics.
The company has always attached importance to development and quality. In 2012 it invested RMB 300 million in technical transformation and, in accordance with the 2010 edition of GMP requirements, built a comprehensive pharmaceutical production plant of more than 40,000 square metres that has passed GMP certification. Cooperating with numerous domestic research institutes, the company has set its direction on varieties across ten major therapeutic fields, aiming at precision treatment of common, frequently occurring and rare diseases. It has made significant progress in non-cytotoxic small-molecule targeted anti-cancer drugs, immunodeficiency therapeutics, antibacterials, respiratory drugs and ophthalmic drugs, while comprehensively carrying out consistency evaluation of existing varieties, and possesses multi-dosage-form production capacity and all-round drug R&D capability.
From 2019 to date, 21 preparation varieties, 8 APIs and 1 excipient of the company have been approved for production. Among them, Ambroxol Hydrochloride Injection was the first product of its kind in China to pass generic consistency evaluation, and Terbutaline Sulfate Nebuliser Solution was the first generic product approved in China; thioctic acid injection, moxifloxacin hydrochloride and sodium chloride injection, voriconazole for injection and voriconazole tablets passed consistency evaluation; and levofloxacin eye drops, dexmedetomidine hydrochloride injection, doxofylline injection, gefitinib tablets, lenalidomide capsules, ambroxol hydrochloride tablets and moxifloxacin hydrochloride eye drops were deemed to have passed consistency evaluation under the new registration classification. It is expected that 6 to 8 new varieties will be approved each year in the future.
The company has established a Quality Management Department as its quality system management body, with QA and QC teams exercising quality assurance and quality control duties respectively, and has defined post responsibilities, scopes and authorities for key personnel in accordance with the 2010 edition of GMP requirements. The quality department is equipped with high-performance liquid chromatographs, LC-MS, gas chromatographs, GC-MS, atomic absorption spectrophotometers, UV and infrared spectrophotometers, total organic carbon analysers, X-ray diffractometers, polarimeters, insoluble particle counters, osmometers and other testing instruments, together with a highly qualified quality control team.
Adhering to the quality policy of "technological innovation, quality first, customer satisfaction, industry leadership", the company closely follows and leads market demand and gives back to customers with better products. In 2023 the company was recognised as a national high-tech enterprise (certificate No. GR202351004708); in 2024 it was named a Sichuan Innovative SME; and in 2025 it was recognised as a Sichuan Provincial Enterprise Technology Centre. With more than 480 employees and holding 65 patents and 46 trademarks, the company covers therapeutic fields such as antibacterials, antivirals, vitamins and antipyretic-analgesics, and its products are sold throughout China and serve medical institutions at all levels.
