Prepared from the dried bile of Sus scrofa by concentration, drying and milling, and listed in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia. A pale yellow to yellowish-brown powder with a faint odour and bitter taste, it clears heat, moistens dryness, relieves cough and asthma and resolves toxicity, and is used for thirst in febrile disease, pertussis, asthma, red eyes, throat obstruction, jaundice, dysentery and sores. Supplied as 0.3 g × 3 vials per bag of direct oral powder for accurate dosing and convenient dispensing.
