Sodium Silicate (Water Glass)
It has good heat resistance: at high temperature the water glass does not burn and its strength does not decrease after intense drying, so it can be used to prepare heat-resistant mortar and heat-resistant cement. It also has good acid resistance and can withstand many inorganic and organic acids, making it suitable for acid-resistant materials.
With strong adhesion, it precipitates silicic acid gel upon hardening, which can block capillary pores and prevent water penetration. Sodium fluorosilicate (12%-15%) is generally added as a curing agent to accelerate setting and hardening and improve cured strength.
