Light calcium carbonate is usually produced by chemical methods: limestone and other raw materials are calcined, slaked, carbonated, filtered, dried and pulverized. It features high whiteness, a fine and uniform particle size, few impurities and high chemical purity. In rubber, plastics, coatings and papermaking it mainly acts as a filler, volume extender and reinforcing agent, reducing product cost and improving dimensional stability and surface finish.
